This Deep Space message was provided by my University of North Dakota graduate students from the spring 2006 semester. Their message was in two parts as shown below: "Hi my name is Chalbeth Reynolds. I'm 24 earth years old. I want to experience intergalactic travel and I love to try new cuisines. Looking for a being to take long planetary surface walks with and watch the solar system's star rise. If you're interested, beam me up sometime." "To our solar system partners, we are just wondering if you could provide some information or assistance for space maturation. Thanks in advance. P.S.

Dr. Shan de Silva, the Department Chair and Professor of the Space Studies department at the University of North Dakota, was the guest for this edition of The Space Show. Given Dr. de Silva's expertise in the subject of volcanism, I began the interview by asking him to clarify the role of earth-based volcanoes with global warming. Dr. de Silva provided us with a solid understanding of the role played by volcanoes and their impact on Earth's atmosphere and climate, and then he explained how this fits into the global warming discussion.
