John Batchelor and I welcomed back Rand Simberg to discuss the second upcoming SLS Artemis 1 launch to the Moon given the first launch effort was cancelled. Rand provided a brief SLS history, talked about its faults and outdated technology, the SpaceX Starship up to date technology, and more. We also talked about the reworking of the Space Shuttle Main Engines being renamed RS 25. While the engines could be serviced and reused, NASA will not be doing that, instead letting them sink to the floor of the ocean. Before signing off Rand mentioned we were not doing Apollo again other than that seems what congress, NASA and the news media are focused on doing.
Please post your comments/questions for Rand on our blog for this show. You can also reach Rand through his blog Transterrestrial Musings and both John and Rand can be reached through me here at The Space Show.
