John Batchelor and I welcomed back Rich Fisher, Asian strategy and space policy expert, to discuss the recent Starship Demo flight in the context of China developing its own Super Heavy reusable rocket, the Long March 9 (LM-9). Rick brought all of this into focus based on slides and information produced by China at the April 24, 2023 Deep Space Exploration conference in Hefei, China on China's Space Day. Rick talked about the organizations behind the event plus running the LM-9 program and China's Lunar Exploration program.  This includes CASC (China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation).  Rick mentioned that China was developing its own version of the Artemis Accords to compete against the Artemis Accords, even with countries such as the UAE and Brazil.  Rick also had much to say about the LM-9 development timeline, funding, and engineering.  In addition, Rick mentioned China's plan for a lunar colony and the fact that LM-9 would be able to get 50 tons to lunar orbit. the LM-10 was also briefly mentioned along with other Chinese rockets.  Please read Rick's latest article on this subject, "China announces its own starship to challenge SpaceX SLV, world's largest" at https://www.worldtribune.com/china-announces-its-own-starship-to-challenge-spacex-slv-worlds-largest.
