Dr. Brad Edwards, director of research at the Institute for Scientific Research, Inc., provides us with an update regarding new developments concerning the space elevator since his last appearance on this program, October 9, 2002. During this discussion, Dr. Edwards talks about his probable funding coming from the government this fall for Phase A Engineering studies, his discussions with the Marshall Space Flight Center, NASA, and Congress. In addition, we will learning about his new position with the Institute for Scientific Research and their work on the space elevator project. Dr. Edwards also describes the space elevator concept from the beginning and answers questions and criticisms regarding possible collisions with the ribbon, its cost, uses on Mars, the Moon, and more. The space elevator concept is definitely an interesting and exciting project that has the potential to revolutionize space access and all related ventures. At the end of the interview, Dr. Edwards is asked about the future for young people in space and particularly in space commerce and space settlement possibilities. His response is very surprising!
