John Batchelor and I welcomed back Rand Simberg to discuss the new lunar return timeline for getting back there in 2024. Mr. Simberg talked about the need for a lunar lander, affordable lunar transportation and essential lunar infrastructure. He also talked about how the continued funding and development of SLS sidetracked these efforts. Rand was asked why we wanted to go back to the Moon and if it was because we were in a race to the Moon with China. Don't miss his reply. The Trump Administration along with the National Space Council were talked about as was the NASA Administrator, Jim Bridenstine. Due to the politics going on in our partisan country, Bridenstine, a former member of Congress, is the point man on selling the lunar return mission to congress. Another point that was discussed was the commentary that we needed much more money. In fact, as Rand said, we always need more money. Listen to what else Rand said regarding the budget and money situation to go back to the Moon. Beefore our segment ended, Rand offered some points regarding just how difficult it would be to sustain a large presence on the Moon, suggesting that were China to get to the Moon with humans, it may be a huge stretch to think they could control a large area on the Moon for their own purposes.
