We welcomed Grant Blaisdell to the program from Warsaw, Poland to tell us about his company, Copernic Space (see www.copernicspace.com) which is a Web3 startup with a different and newer business model.  The company is all about decentralizing the ownership of space assets and creating a vibrant buys/sell market for space commerce goods and service.  Grant was with us via cell phone and unfortunately our connection dropped several times.  Fortunately we were able to get him back on the line though on the archives you will hear the loss of our connection.  Please be sure to review the .pdf that has been uploaded to the blog for more about the company, their action plan and their Web3 platform.

We started our conversation with Grant by talking about his background, how he got interested in space, and the contributions by his family members to commercial space over the years.  At one point he said he had three generations of space blood in him.  From this jumping off point, he told the story of how Lady Rocket (his Mom) along with Grant and a few others started the company to be able to create a viable commercial market for space products, goods and services which would be available to all, not just the larger aerospace organizations. Having a strong background in technology and related fields, Copernic Space was created on the Web3 platform to decentralize ownership to facilitate space commerce with more and more participants as both buyers and sellers. From this point forward Grant told us how Web3 Copernic Space would operate and what it would do for its customers.  For many of us, myself included, what we heard from our guest was new and the business model was certainly different if not new as compared to most entrepreneurial programs interviewed on The Space Show.  As I have done with other Space Show programs, I recommend you pay attention to the Tags because they fairly summarize (mostly in order too), the talking points, the technologies, the processes and the methodologies employed by Copernic Space to meet their goals for both their customers and for the company.  For convenience, I have repeated the tags below.

Tags:  Grant Blaisdell, Copernic Space, Warsaw Poland, Decentralized ownership of space assets, Lady Rocket Foundation, blockchain, NewSpace business explosion, Web3 technology, decentralization, token based investment, NFT, creating a market for sellers and buyers, satellite data market, physical payload, portal to the new space economy, Spaceibles, SpaceMart, SpacePool, space art, partial interests, fractionalized assets, launch industry, lunar presence, Mars, creating new and additional commercial space markets, digital space payload, regulatory issues, KYC process in finance and banking, small size customers, branding, fashion, Artist Jeff Koons NFT Artworks to the Moon in Celebration of Human Achievement, technology focus, Start Aerospace, financing, five year plan for Copernic Space, public equity, space settlement applications, lunar timeline.

During our discussion, Grant talked about NFTs, space art and he identified three groupings, Spaceibles, the SpaceMart and the SpacePool.  Make sure you listen to how he described each grouping.  Since a few questions came in about art NFT efforts to space, Grant made sure we understood what the role of the NFT for his company was different than an NFT project like the one being asked about. The NFT in question dealt with artist Jeff Koons doing an NFT deal to send his art to the Moon.  Listeners mentioned that the project was not all that successful but that was not verified. I encourage interested listeners to do their own research on that project if you are interested in it but do note how our guest differentiated Copernic Space from that type of NFT project.  By the way, NFT stands for Non-fungible token which is part of the blockchain.  It is associated with a specific digital or physical asset.  Please Google NFT for more information if interested.

Listeners asked our guest about regulatory issues and their business plan because of the risk of being in the securities market which would require substantial changes in their plan. He also said they follow the KYC process in finance and banking learn more about KYC by visiting www.treezor.com/insights/knowledge-center/stages-of-the-kyc-process.  Their plan seeks out small and even individualize their customers as their base as they move to democratize space, space commerce, space assets and who can own and control space assets.  In explaining the plan, satellite data was a commonly used example.  In the Q&A, listener James asked about changing technology and its impact on what Copernic Space wanted to do.  Grant said technology was at the core of the company.  Don't miss all of what he had to say about their program and advancing technology.  Later in the program, Grant got specific about both digital and physical payloads.  One example used to help clarify was that of music CD or vinyl album.  Don't miss it. In addition, both the launch industry, fractionalized assets, digital and physical payloads were front and center in our discussion.

As we were nearing the end of our discussion, we talked with Grant about financing their platform and what Copernic Space might look like in five years.  We even talked about creating public equity and was that in the company's future plans. Before ending, Henry in Phoenix sent in a note about space settlement and markets between settlements, even on the Moon and Mars at some point.  Once again be sure to hear what Grant had to say about future in-space Copernic Space activities and market creation.

Please post your comments, questions, and thoughts about this business plan on our blog for this show.  You can reach Grant Blaisdell through me or the Copernic Space website.
