We welcomed Bob Zimmerman back to the show for a wide ranging space and broad topic discussion sparking multiple listener phone calls along with emails.  The key words and tags above do a good job of summarizing the discussion topics so I have repeated them here:

Tags and Key Words:  "Bob Zimmerman, 2021 comprehensive launch rate & analysis, 2022 launch predictions, China's Long March 5B, Mars rovers, Perseverance, Curiosity, Curiosity rover wheels, ancient life on Mars, Starship, Georgia spaceport, proving Starship to be economically viable, Bob's book "Conscious Choice," exploration of the lunar poles, ULA, Vulcan BE4 engine delays, Blue Origin and the BE4 engine problem, The Lurio Report with Dr. Charles Lurio, fusion energy, Commonwealth Fusion, Sen. George McGovern, Boca Chica EIR for Starship launches, Boca Chica as an international spaceport, Dr. Martin Elvis, SLS, Artemis, Orion, space as a political campaign issue."

At times our discussion crossed the political and partisan line but I do my best to uphold the line to not cross that invisible line.  For sure I am not perfect and there were a few times when the line was crossed.  I also stepped in and stopped some discussion from going down that road.  Listeners, we live in very divided and partisan times and emotions and passions run very high.  I do my best to keep it out of TSS but as I said, I am not always able to live up to that goal.  The Space Show is a forum where all ideas and perspectives are welcome.  The only rule is civility and I hope everyone will remember that rule.  Plus no name calling.  There are lots and lots of political talk shows and blogs for people to use and express their views but for The Space Show, let's keep it to space, science and the related fields.

An excellent email came in from Anton which I read on air. Pay attention to the second question Anton asked Bob.  I expanded it to apply to most guests on TSS and told Anton I would use it again, being sure to credit it to him.  Anton also asked Bob about one of his recent books, "Conscious Choice."  Bob spent some time talking about the book as he answered Anton's question.  Later in the show, another listener referenced Bob's book.

Bob spoke about space settlement and going to Mars.  He said in the end it was all about creating a new society for the kids, the children.  Listen to all of what Bob said on this topic and then let us know your thoughts by posting them on our blog for this program.  We talked about commercial fusion companies but Bob was not up on that segment.  At one point Bob mentioned extending the Boca Chica spaceport into Mexico for an international space spaceport  with Mexico which might enhance its regulatory profile.  In addition, we got a listener email about the Gulf of Mexico rig count and the SpaceX flight profile in that congested area.  This came about when Bob was asked about the FAA and EIR for the Boca Chica Starship spaceport.  Much was said about the EIR, the delays, SpaceX, opposition to SpaceX and Starship along with other related topics.  As you will hear, Bob was of the opinion that this was in a way an effort to adversely impact SpaceX plans.  There was some discussion on that point.  I don't agree due to the wildlife issues though other spaceports and the Cape are in wildlife protected areas.  Of course Starship is a very different launch vehicle, extremely large, so I guess it might impact wildlife and other environmental concerns on a grander scale than other rockets.  Your thoughts on this are welcome on our blog. Late, a question came in about Bob having either a short term or long term concern about China getting to the Moon before we return to the Moon.  I also expressed my opinion in response to this question and referenced an earlier show back in 2021 with Dr. Martin Elvis.

Ft. Worth John called about SLS.  Bob used the opportunity to talk about other startups planning launch activity this year.  Artemis came back into question with a listener email.  I asked Bob for an update on the Kickstarter to make a video game out of his Pioneer book.  Bob explained the delay but he will be letting us know more about the project in a few weeks.
