John Batchelor and I welcomed back Anatoly Zak of www.russianspaceweb.com for a two segment nearly 20 minute discussion concerning the Russian space program. We talked about their rockets, the new launch site far out in Western Siberia, President Putin and his new rocket strategy, Russian efforts to push business in the commercial launch sector and be competitive with SpaceX and others, plus a host of other projects, developments, and issues.  One subject getting lots of coverage was the Lunar Gateway and the announced Russian part in the project.  During this discussion, our guest made some comparisons to the international cooperation on the ISS as a probable model for the Gateway.  We also talked specific Russian rocket developments including Soyuz upgrades, Proton progress and the work continuing on the Angara rocket family.  Russian hardware quality control was talked about along with their increasing launch record for the year. We ended the discussion with Anatoly suggesting that Russian would have to prioritize their projects as doing all of what they talked about was financially unsustainable.  Don't miss all of this important discussion.

You can email Mr. Batchelor or Anatoly Zak through me at drspace@thespaceshow.com.  Anatoly can also be reached through his website mentioned above.
