We started this two segment 2 hour 11 minute Open Lines discussion with Robert Jacobson, author of the best selling book, "Space is Open for Business." Robert talked about the book, their virtual opening recently completed plus he talked about the company SpaceVR and their simulated spaceflight VR experience in a flotation tank. Don't miss this discussion. SpaceVR has a float tank location in Napa which is very close to me so I am now in discussions with their CEO for a return Space Show program and the possibility of doing a recording while in the float tank. I will keep listeners posted on this potential upcoming Space Show program
In addition to talking about SpaceVR, Robert discussed what he is doing with Axiom Space with customers for an ISS habitat. He talked about the planned Axiom Space schedule and more. We have featured Axiom Space on earlier programs so I will reach out to them for a Space Show update. Robert then told us he was working on a detailed Starship white paper with one of his associates. We look forward to discussing his paper with him on a future Space Show program plus the schedule will appear on the website news letter schedule once it is booked.
Ft. Worth John called to discuss several topics. First, he saw the special new Tic Tac related documentary film, The Phenomena, which he told us about. As far as I know, it is available now as a buy only on Amazon Prime for about $15.00. I plan on seeing it but I am not in a hurry to do so. If any of you do see it, let us know what you think by posting on this blog or calling the next OL show on November 1 or just emailing me. There are lots of films with similar names but you want to get the one produced by Jaime Fox. John then talked about Roger Penrose getting The Nobel Prize in Physics for 2020. John also talked about Penrose and AI, he made some comparisons with Professor Hawking who did not get the Nobel, plus he mentioned several of the key books authored by Penrose. We talked about inviting Dr. Penrose to The Space Show plus John suggested Janna Levin from Columbia. Stay tuned for both as I will invite both.
We started the second segment with a call from Kim. I talked to her about the quality difference in her cell phone in Mexico compared to US cellphones. Really, American cell connections stink compared to most of the cell calls I get with guests and listeners in other countries. It is frustrating to experience the poor quality of a US cell connection compared to the typical much better quality of the cell call coming in from outside the US. Kim's reason for calling was to add to the discussion regarding Sir Roger Penrose. She mentioned that he did an interview with Joe Rogan so listen to her comments about the interview. Kim also asked questions about Venus and the announcement of phosphine suggesting life and microbes. In her comments, she brought up Earth based extremophiles and an acid environment. Don't miss all of what Kim had to say.
Fremont John called to tell us that the SpaceVR float center was near me in Napa and the float experience was priced at $99! John and I talked about doing it together with a Space Show recording but Robert emailed in that the float tanks were for only one person at a time. I also interjected a story about Pepper working by my air purifiers and tripping them into high gear, probably because the air pollution is on her husky fur. Robert was listening and sent me a note about dog sanitizing wipes rather than having to give the dog a shower or a bath which is a big job for a husky. I thanked Robert for the information he sent me on this after the show but continued the discussion with John, including reading a listener email giving us the short history of why a toilet is called a john..
He also talked about a National Geographic article featuring Nadia, the daughter of Frank Drake of the Drake equation. The article used an older pulsar map from Pioneer 10. John told the story about this which was quite interesting. He talked about the math used to enable ET to understand us if ET came in contact with the mission. He said the daughter was suggesting a new pulsar map, an updated one as so much more is known about pulsars today then back in the days of Pioneer 10. John is working on seeing if Nadia will do a Space Show program with us.
