John Batchelor and I welcomed Rod Pyle to Hotel Mars to discuss space settlement.  The National Space Society (NSS) quarterly publication Ad Astra was devoted to space settlement with their special edition, "Living In Space."  John focused in on an editorial by Dale Skran, NSS Senior Operating Officer, identifying six reasons supporting space settlement.  During our one segment Hotel Mars program, John discussed several of them including resources, spin-offs, long term human survival and backing up humans by extending life to another planet in the solar system.  In addition, we talked about free space settlement as compared to settlement on the lunar or Martian surface.  During the spin-off discussion, John asked about growing food in space and Rod talked about space agriculture and how that is a new and hot developing field.  Other topics including medical, biological and other scientific advancements that have come from space to help us all on Earth.  Don't miss all of Rod brought our attention.  This special edition Ad Astra is available for sale at most newsstands, bookstores and on Amazon.  If you are not a subscriber or NSS member, be sure to get your copy.
