We welcomed Kim Holder back to the show to discuss her thoughts on "conquering the Earth from the Moon!"  During the first segment of our 94 minute program, I asked Kim for a brief summary of her ISDC experiences given she was there in San Juan for the event.  Next, I asked Ms. Holder to outline her thoughts which she had presented at the recent ISDC regarding conquering Earth from the Moon.  To do this concept justice, I urge you to closely listen to our first segment discussion given the difficult nature of summarizing it for this program review.  That said, Kim talked about future Moon people being able to block sunlight hitting Earth by placing shades of some type in L1 and using this to force a certain behavior on Earth residents that the Moon people wanted.  Kim went on to say that the time was now for opening a discussion to better understand and get a long with different cultures to head off such "possible future attacks" on Earth from the Moon.  She also said and explained why Earth would have no way to respond to such an action.  In addition, she talked about blocking sunlight from L1 to cool off the Earth regarding global warming under the assumption that the Earth was warming.

Our guest received several emails about her idea of conquering Earth from the Moon. Also, I believe this is the first time an idea such as this has ever been presented on The Space Show.  Some of the questions suggested robotics would be far more preferable for the Moon than actually having people go to the Moon.  She also got questions about where lunar settlers might live on the Moon. On the surface, in lava tubes, or in caves.  Kim addressed all of these options during our program.

There was more discussion about needing to have discussions on Earth to enable better understandings among different cultures which would help to avert attacks on Earth from future lunar residents.  Kim suggested a long timeline before something like this could happen, perhaps 30 years or so.  That said, we should head this type of potential off in advance and find a new way to get together using space to benefit us all.

In the second segment, Mac sent in an email suggesting that her assumption that a lunar colony would be totally independent of Earth might not be valid.  He wanted to know if a lunar colony, based on what we know about the Moon and the probable need for resupply from Earth would be independently sustainable to behave in a way Kim was suggesting.  Kim said it was possible but listen to what she had to say for her full reply.

Chris from my hometown Tulsa asked about the space awareness in Mexico and in the Mexican culture.  Kim had much to say about this so don't miss her comments.  Briefly, she said so far Mexico was not so involved with a space culture.  B John asked more questions, then Larry sent in a note asking about lunar drone flights and cyberwarfare possibly coming from the Moon.  Don't miss what Kim had to say about this. She also mentioned cyberwarfare issues with some conversations she had with folks attending the ISDC.  Later in the segment, our guest stressed that what she was talking about was very long range but the discussions to avert such "attacks" should begin now.

Later in the segment we talked about lunar exploration gaining some momentum with NASA and Congress plus the private sector.  Our guest strongly advocated for going to the Moon, not Mars.  Make sure you hear why she so strongly advocates for going to the Moon over Mar.  Cislunar transportation was brought up by Wayne in Houston as he wanted to know if a good cislunar transportation system would be able to block hostile acts from the Moon.  Kim had much to say in response to Wane's questions so don't miss it.

As we were nearing the end of the show, I asked Kim where we go from here (today).  In her response, she spoke about her Moonwards project (www.moonwards.com).  She talked about advances moving us closer to lunar settlement and being truly spacefaring.  Some of what she mentioned included cubesat development, advanced propulsion systems, & 3D printing.  She said space was both "heating up and speeding up."  Kim called for volunteers to help her with her Moonwards project.  If you are interested, you can contact her through her website plus she gave out her email address at the end of the program.
