Guests: CLASROOM: Dan Adamo and co-hosts: Topics: Lesson 3: Orbital/Flight Dynamics. Lesson 3 discussed the basics of orbital and flight dynamics over a two hour plus period. As with all Classroom programs, the goal was to ground listeners on the facts of space flight. In our initial segment, Dan provided us with a basic understanding of both orbital and flight dynamics and what a Flight Dynamics Officer (FDO pronounced as Fido) actually does.

Guest: William Grahame was the guest for this Space Show program to discuss hypersonic R&D, programs, and flight. We began the discussion with a short summary of some of the existing or better known hypersonic and scramjet programs including Hi-Fire, Blackswift, and Falcon. We talked about development of these vehicles needing to come from the military side of things, not civil or the private sector. We also talked about educating the public as to why hypersonic vehicles are important and how the press is probably not that aware of their importance.

This program consists of three sets of interviews from the August 2008 SmallSat Conference located on the campus of Utah State University in Logan, Utah. Our first discussion includes Dr. Pat Patterson of Utah State University and Jim Marshall, the Director of Business Development for the Space Dynamics Lab (SDL), plus others from the SDL who explain their projects as well as talk about being a student, intern, or PI in the program.
