ToTran is the Executive Director of the Caelus Foundation, whose mission is to broaden participation in the space domain. She believes in leading and organizing with a human-centered approach that takes people’s everyday experience of their world as the basis for working toward ethical, meaningful, and lasting impact. Her work and curiosities are shaped by a confluence of interests: strategy, business ethics, anthropology, cross-sector partnerships, and entrepreneurship.
Her PhD research at the University of Leuven in Belgium, based on fieldwork in Europe and Africa, explores why business-nonprofit collaborations may fail despite good intentions, extensive investment, and best practices. She focuses on the complexities of how people interact moment-to-moment. At the university, she also teaches the subject of intercultural issues in international business. Previously, she was a management consultant at A.T. Kearney, where she led strategy and operational improvement projects for clients in a variety of sectors, including aerospace, telecom, consumer goods, and education.
ToTran holds a Master of Science in Cultures and Development Studies from the University of Leuven, a Master of Business Administration from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia, and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
