Mike Smithwick

Mike Smithwick is the author of the popular astronomy program Distant Suns, a former simulation engineer at NASA, and eyewitness to three Apollo Moon launches. Mr. Smithwick, as a result of his NASA work, his experience as an armature astronomer, and his computer programming accomplishments, tells us just how difficult it would have been to fake the Moon trips in a real time, complex simulation. We will also look at the Apollo Moon landing program from the perspective of the former Soviet Union, the risk for NASA in trying to fake the landings and the program, the science involved, as well as from the point of view of the thousands of people that worked on the Apollo program. Critical thinking and the need to have clear thought on these and other issues will be addressed.
