Julie Jiru is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where she earned a B.S. in Advertising—Creative Sequence. While there, she was a member of the UT Ballroom Dance Team and became a National Collegiate Ballroom Dance Champion in Tango. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from South Texas College of Law in Houston, she became a Judge Advocate General in the United States Air Force. While in the Air Force, Julie prosecuted cases, served as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney, and was the Chief of Military Justice and Claims at Brooks City-Base. She then served as the Area Defense Counsel for Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. While stationed there, she traveled to Italy and Germany for courts-martial. After her overseas tour, she became a government procurement attorney for Combatant Commander Command and Control Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Systems at the Electronic Systems Center Headquarters at Hanscom Air Force Base. After the military, she was part of the inaugural Space and Telecommunications Law LL.M. class at the University of Nebraska’s College of Law. She is currently working in SpaceX’s DC office and loving it.
