Welcome to our Sunday Open Lines program.  During the first segment of our 1 hour 48 minute program, we took our first call from Alex, a UND undergraduate, who along with Sean and Michael, have started a company, Open Space Frontier Technologies, to help bring affordable space technology to everyone with their low-cost cubesat kits.  Alex described their kits, their pricing and more.  If you are interested in knowing more, send your note to me and I will forward it to Alex and his team.  Check them out at Facebook using their company name.  Alex said their design was based on the UND project, OpenOrbiter.

Michael Listner was our next caller to announce his new subscription newsletter, Precis.  To check it out, visit his website, www.spacelawsolutions.com. In the upper right you will see the menu item to select.  The direct URL is www.spacelawsolutions.com/the-pr-cis-.html.  Michael described the contents and goals of the newsletter.  In addition, I have the first edition and it is chocked full of interesting and dynamic space topics.  It is a quality newsletter for sure.  Michael also offered introductory and special Space Show listener offers so if you are interested in subscribing and I recommend you do so, avail yourself to one of his special offers.  During the beak, Michael and I worked out an additional offer for those that donate $130 to The Space Show/OGLF. Those donors will get both a tax deduction for your gift to us plus you will get the one year subscription to Michael's newsletter.  If you have any questions about the newsletter or the offers, you can reach Michael through his website above or me.

In the second segment, we took a call from Rick who wanted to comment on our recent show about wifi in space via the Project Hermes using TCO/IP.  Rick had very interesting comments and perspectives on wifi in space so I encouraged him to post a comment on the appropriate show's blog and I would make sure the guest for that show, Rishabh Maharaja, sees the post.

Our next caller was John Hunt from Ft. Worth.  We briefly talked about our going to see Dr. Woodward's lab to further investigate the Mach Thruster research and development work taking place in Woodward's lab as John and I are meeting up in the area in mid September.  John then referenced the recent research paper dealing with Apollo lunar astronauts showing higher cardiovascular disease, possibly due to radiation.  John questioned the relevancy of the very small sample size since not too many have walked on the Moon.  Next, I threw out a teaser to John on Hilary's campaign promise to tell all about UFOs were she to be elected.  Bringing up UFOs to John is like pushing the John automatic on button so we were then treated to an almost nonstop UFO "report."  While I enjoy the topic and keep up with it, its not a Space Show topic for the most part so I should have known better than to taunt John on the subject.  I guess I still have lots to learn about managing and running The Space Show.  One thing is for sure, I think the "truth" about UFOs (which UFOs of course does make a difference) is out there but I don't think any closer to us. Knowing the facts and truth about UFOs is on my bucket list.

Before the end of our program, I highlighted some upcoming Space Show guests that may be of special interest to many of the listeners.  Please post your comments/questions in the comments section of this archived program on TSS website.  Note that a few of you are continuing to do a blog post on our old Wordpress blog. That blog is no longer active and your posts are not posted.  That blog, as I say on each show, is used only for important and timely Space Show announcements.  Our blog now is on our website, shows up in Upcoming Shows on the right side of the home page and is explained on every show.  We welcome your blog posts but please put them on the right blog.
