We welcomed back author Jackie Kingon to discuss her second book, "Sherlock Mars: Fine Dining, Virtual Reality and Murder."  The book is available on Amazon.  If you do purchase it, please do so through one of the two Amazon programs that donate part of the purchase price to The Space Show.  Details can be found at www.onegiantleapfoundation.org/amazon.htm.  During the first segment of our 59 minute program, Ms. Kingon introduced us to her new book, "Sherlock Mars" and her main character, Molly Marbles.  While not actually a sequel to her first book "Chocolate Chocolate Moons," Sherlock continues with the life and experiences of Molly who is a well entrenched citizen on Mars who has opened an up the upscale Molly's Bistro.  Later, the Virtual Vittles establishment opens up across the street in New Chicago, the main city on Mars, and then the story unfolds from there.

As we begin to learn about the totally terraformed Mars 300 years into the future, we learn about animals and pets on Mars, an android body parts catalog for replacing worn out or ill body parts, prejudice between the humans on Mars and the part android part humans on Mars, advanced virtual reality, tourist sites elsewhere in the solar system and of course a first rate murder mystery that Molly solves.

Listeners had many questions for Jackie around social issues on Mars compared to Earth.  For example, B John asked multiple questions including was it practical to make robots look and behave like us for user interfaces, did Jackie worry about her characters blurring out the mental border between robot and human, would we evolve to valuing human life less because of robots replacing humans and might we on Mars or Earth fall in love with robots instead of with each other?  These questions sparked interesting discussions with our guest and other listeners based on some additional email comments.  Before we ended the first segment, Paul wanted to know if the terraformed Mars was altered to have 1 g Earth gravity.  Jackie said no, Mars gravity was not altered.

In the second segment, Jackie told us about the availability of the book on Amazon. She also discussed the main city on Mars, new Chicago, plus other locations on Mars that were trendy and had settlers or visitors.

Listeners asked about the actual murder that took place at Virtual Vittles.  We learned about the suspects but of course there was no spoiler alert.  You need to read the book to find out who did the murder as we did not disclose it during our program.  B John asked another question about virtual reality changing our physical reality.

Jackie was asked about her next book.  She said she was thinking of writing it about Pluto but we will have to wait for more details.  Jackie also mentioned the spa for fat people, Roses Heaven.  One could visit there and eat all they wanted of all types of foods as there were no calories and no worries.

Before our program ended, Jackie was asked if there was any tourism or visits to Venus and she talked about Mercury as well.  In addition, she told us a bit more about her potential next book focusing on Pluto.
