MEGAN WATZKE has spent her professional career trying to make science accessible and engaging to the general public. After receiving her undergraduate degree in astrophysics from the University of Michigan, she went on to earn a master's degree in science journalism at Boston University. For several years she worked in the public affairs office of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass. In 2000, she became the press officer for the Chandra X-ray Observatory, one of NASA's "Great Observatories" along with the Hubble and Spitzer Space Telescopes. As someone who likes to learn and explore, she has traveled to more than 15 countries. Megan now currently lives in Seattle with her partner, their kids, and a dog, cat, and five chickens.
