David Hoerr | | David Hoerr is currently working as a contract work fulltime for one of the new launch vehicle companies. For the past several years he has been teaching in the Engineering Mechanics and Astronautics program at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and doing contract work for several small aerospace companies. He has his degree in engineering Mechanics and Astronautics program and is an aerospace engineer with extensive experience in the design, analysis, and fabrication of a variety of aerospace vehicle structures and subsystems, including general aviation aircraft. He served eight years as an engineering officer in the U.S. Air Force, and later worked at Pacific American Launch Systems and Lockheed Missiles and Space Company. In 1998, he participated in developmental test operations at Rotary Rocket Company’s rocket engine test facility. He has been responsible for the design of new products in the industrial vehicles, consumer products, and biotechnology industries. At the University of Wisconsin, he has taught Introduction to Engineering, Statistics, and Engineering Problem Solving. He also serves as an advisor to the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Student Branch project to construct a kit-built aircraft. Mr. Hoerr holds a B.S. and M.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois. He is a Senior Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. His recent activities include working on advanced thermal protection system concepts for reentry vehicles and, with Patrick Stiennon, writing “The Rocket Company,” recently published by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. | Appeared on the following broadcasts: #970 - Guest: David Hoerr, co-author of "The Rocket Company," was the guest for this Space Show...
