| Guest: Graham Smith was the guest for this program to discuss his album, "Eleven," which honors the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Listeners sent in questions and called from Canada, the US, and the UK wanting to know his future music plans, how he composed space theme music, and if he would compose specific space music, for example, to highlight space tourism. Graham Smith
Graham Smith is a musician and designer who has composed music for radio and corporate presentations as well as extensive live performances in various rock, pop, and jazz bands. In July 2006 after watching a documentary, Graham came up with the idea of writing a concept album about the Apollo 11 mission. As a composition, there are some very distinct phases to the mission which lend themselves to musical movements. With each track, Graham has captured a particular moment from the mission. The album, called ‘Eleven’, took 7 months to record and was finalized in April 2007. As 2009 will mark the 40th anniversary of the moon landings, Graham is currently working to get as much exposure as possible before the anniversary and is currently in contact with various organizations with the plan of making ‘Eleven’ the soundtrack to the International Year of Astronomy, which also happens to be in 2009. Tracks have been played on the BBC and featured in the BBC's “Sky at Night” magazine.
